Montreal salons are busier than ever these days. Not just on weekends and on weekdays, too. Many places are turning away visitors because appointment slots fill up quickly. Earlier, most people only booked salon appointments when their hair became unmanageable. Now many Hairdresser Montreal clients pre-book weeks in advance. They plan for their hair cuts. And the styles people are asking for? Let’s know about it –

    Top Hairdresser Montreal Trends 2026

    1. Curtain Bangs Are Still Here – Just Softer

It’s still in demand, and it doesn’t seem like it’s going away anytime soon. The version people want in 2026 will be less dramatic than the one popular two years ago. No heavy fringe, nothing too statement-making. Just soft, face-framing pieces that look like they fit in naturally.

This cut looks completely different depending on the face shape. Those with round faces need to style it differently than those with long faces. A good stylist asks questions and figures this out before picking up the scissors. Many stylists don’t understand any differences, they simply copy the reference photo.

    1. The Fade That Actually Looks Clean

Every barbershop in Montreal hears this request daily. Clean fade. But go to five different barbers and you’ll get five different results. A smooth fade is more difficult than it looks. A proper fade should transition smoothly without visible lines or patchy areas. When it’s not perfect you will easily know it’s not good. When it’s done correctly, it looks sharp and satisfactory.

I had a better experience at Ganabarber in Montreal. Their fades whether low, mid, or skin consistently hit that sweet spot of clean without looking overdone. Clients come back specifically for it, which says more than any description could.

    1. French Crop With Texture

The classic French crop got updated. People still want the short sides and defined top, but now they want texture in there – something that looks a little rough, a little lived in. Whether the hair is straight or slightly wavy, the textured crop usually sits well without demanding much styling effort. And the maintenance is genuinely minimal which is probably why it keeps showing up. Most guys don’t want to spend twenty minutes styling every morning due to lack of time. This cut looks great with just a little product.

    1. Wolf Cut – Not Going Anywhere

Everyone kept saying this trend is almost done. It’s 2026 and it’s still very much here. The volume and movement it gives are hard to replicate with other cuts. And it works across different hair types which makes it broadly appealing. The one thing that determines whether it looks good is how well the stylist reads your natural texture.

I’ve noticed that the barbers at Ganabarber take the time to understand your hair and then decide how to cut it. They don’t just do a haircut based on a photo.

    1. Curls – People Are Finally Keeping Their Curls

This change is kind of nice to see. For years, a lot of people with naturally curly hair would come in wanting it straightened or at least tamed down significantly. That is changing now. The task is usually about definition – how to make the curls look intentional and shaped rather than just wild.

Working with curly hair properly is a skill that not every stylist has. It requires understanding curl patterns.  Knowing where to cut and where not to. Need to avoid anything that disrupts the natural movement. Getting a haircut wrong is easy but Getting it right takes experience.

    1. Blunt Bob – Sharp Comeback

No layers, no soft ends, no graduation. Just a clean horizontal line and that’s it. The blunt bob coming back this strong in 2026. After years of very layered and textured cuts, something this clean and structured stands out.

It’s not a forgiving cut though. If the line is even slightly uneven or the weight distribution is off, it shows immediately. But when a good stylist does it correctly, it looks really really good.

    What Actually Makes the Difference

Everyone knows the trends. Check YouTube, check Instagram – curtain bangs, wolf cut, blunt bob, it’s all out there. The real problem is execution. Some stylists in Montreal actually get it, and some just copy what they see. Ganabarber falls in the first category, that’s why people keep talking about them.
